We Now Have New Blog
Please take a look at our new blog here.
Douglas Stockdale recently stopped in & interviewed me for his blog, The Photobook, where he discusses & reviews a wide variety of photographic books. You can read the interview here. In brief, we discuss how Ampersand got started, the relationship between books & our gallery shows & the recent publication of our first book.
Portland's Cinema Project is screening William Eggleston's Stranded in Canton tonight & tomorrow (May 3 & 4 at 7:30PM) at the Clinton Street Theater. Ampersand will be there selling Eggleston's books, including Stranded in Canton, which features film stills & a DVD version of the film. We'll also have copies of the latest Eggleston book published by Twin Palms, For Now, which was edited by Michael Almereyda, maker of the film, Eggleston in the Real World.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night for the opening.
Thanks, too, to Ninkasi Brewing Co. for providing the beer.
If you didn't have a chance to make it, the current shows will
be up through the end of may.
Ampersand is a gallery, bookshop & retail archive located at 2916 NE Alberta Street in Portland, Oregon. Committed to cultural preservation, we buy & sell vintage photography, paper ephemera, historic documents & collectible books. Our book inventory, consisting of both new & used volumes, is focused primarily on visual content, with particular emphasis on art, design & photography. Our monthly gallery shows feature either contemporary artworks or curated selections from our vintage inventory. In both cases, our intent is to investigate the colliding point between now & then, past & present, vintage & contemporary.
This blog showcases some of the original ephemera, photos & whatnot in our inventory & personal collections. Feel free to share images (we only ask that you include our link). Enjoy.
